Mia Rae — Built From the Dark

You didn't find this place by accident. You were called here. This is the path to the hearth — and this is how it was built.

For a long time I was running on empty. Four kids, a loud world, and a routine that had nothing to do with who I actually was. I was the protector, the provider, and the default parent — at all times, regardless of who was around. And I was pouring from a cup that had been drained for more than I like to admit.

The shift didn't come from a class, a book, or a how-to-better-yourself app. It came from stopping. Looking within myself to see what I was actually missing.

And then one day at the World Oddities Expo, I bought Jordyn a salve. A 2oz hand salve for $20. I looked at it and thought — I could do that. That night I went home and made three products. Three days later I had a plan. The rest spiraled from there in the best way possible.

Once I committed, doors opened that I didn't even know existed. An investor. A mentor. A friend and spiritual guide. People believing in me before I even fully believed in myself — before I knew how any of this would work. Opportunities I never could have imagined.

That's when you realize this was where you were always meant to be. When you stop trying to conform to the expectations of what everyone else wants or needs from you. And you finally — fully, unapologetically — become yourself.

I started in the heart of my kitchen. Trading the static and disconnect for the real and authentic. Asking myself, the universe, and the earth what it could give. I found myself melting beeswax — completely lost on how to do any of this — and slowly, naturally piecing it together. Letting my vision and creativity come through instead of following the conformity of what a typical apothecary is supposed to look like.

The dark, gothic version of this that was never white and pink and soft — but raw, dark, gritty, and loud. That is what this has always been. That's where I started. And those are the products I have now.

But Rescue Salve is where I found me. My whole vision. That is Phase 2. When I bring the products that come from truly within my soul. Speaking to the world about what my gift actually is. Because even though I am dark, I am a beacon of light, love, and restoration. That has always been my truth.
